New occupiers set to place orders for landmark Burger King site

The soon-to-be-vacant site that has long housed a landmark Burger King outlet is set to present a new opening for another occupier at one of Albany’s most pivotal locations.

The high-profile property now being offered for lease or sale enjoys standout exposure at the busy junction of Apollo Drive and Rosedale Road. The modern, more than 260-square-metre building was purpose-built for fast food with drive-through and dual access to the site.

The existing lease to Burger King generates an annual net rental return of $167,500 plus outgoings and GST.

Available to new occupiers from August 2024 following final lease expiry, the premises are well-suited for another fast-food, café or restaurant operator, or other retail business, either as tenants or owner-occupiers. The site’s business-friendly zoning is also likely to pique the interest of developers.

The freehold land and building at 112 Apollo Drive, Albany, Auckland, are being marketed for lease or sale through Bayleys Real Estate.

The property is being offered by way of deadline private treaty closing on Thursday 2 May, unless it is leased or sold prior.

Bayleys North Shore Commercial Director Ranjan Unka said the standalone building sat on some 2,244 square metres of freehold land with 24 on-site car parks.

“These premises have for many years been home to a major fast-food operator servicing this extensive and rapidly expanding residential and commercial area.

“Though purpose-built for fast food, the property has the space and versatility to accommodate a variety of ventures – from another fast-food business or trendy eatery to a retail storefront or a showroom/office.

“Whether you’re looking to kickstart a new enterprise, revamp your current business, or upgrade to a more prominent location, this site provides an excellent canvas to realise that vision,” said Unka.

The Apollo Drive site forms part of the General Business zone under Auckland’s unitary plan. This allows for wide-ranging activities such as hospitality, large-format retail, trade and office use, as well as light industry.

Bayleys national retail sales and leasing director Chris Beasleigh said new occupiers would benefit from the site’s prime frontage and convenient parking at a dynamic intersection.

“This is not just a crossroads, it’s a bustling nexus of activity in the heart of Albany’s commercial hub. Surrounded by a diverse array of businesses, this is an epicentre of commerce and convenience.

“The Apollo Drive property’s standout corner profile assures it of exceptional exposure to busy foot and vehicle traffic, maximising impact for business occupiers,” said Beasleigh.

The property sits beside a BP service station and is handy to numerous shops and eateries, a medical centre, Countdown supermarket and Westfield Albany Mall.

It has convenient access to State Highway 1 and the new Rosedale Bus Station is within walking distance.

Albany has grown rapidly in recent years as a major focus of commercial activity on Auckland’s North Shore. Big businesses committed to the area include Todd Property Group, KEA, Goodman, Argosy, Willis Bond and Westfield, with an array of retail and commercial projects underway.
